WinConnect™ Communications
WinConnect™ Communications is a suite of flexible communication options designed to scale with your business needs. It is a fully integrated communication link between the WinRetail® back office and point of sale system.
JDS recognizes that one size does not fit all. In order to be successful in today’s fast-paced retail world, you need the reliability of a solid backbone of data flowing between your stores, and the head office.
Real-Time Communications
Some retail businesses require a real-time exchange of information; data is being passed to and from the stores to the central server as it occurs. For those retailers, WinRetail® offers real-time processing, with information continuously flowing between stores and the home office. Sales data is uploaded to the host computer on a real-time basis. Any new updates made at the host level are likewise downloaded to the stores again on a real-time basis. In addition to the periodic updates made at the host level, the stores share a common database that allows them to have interactive availability of balances on gift certificates, store credits, gift cards, and return receipts. Corporate management is fully informed - store managers are provided with up to the minute transaction data to avoid costly mistakes.
Nightly Processing
Some retail businesses do not need the frequent updates provided by the real-time option. For those retailers timely may be the nightly exchange of data between stores and the corporate offices. WinRetail® offers “batch” or nightly processing to meet their needs. Sales data is gathered from all of the stores' registers at a pre-determined time after the close of business and sent back to the WinRetail® host computer where it is processed. During this process, inventory updates are also sent down from the WinRetail® host computer to the stores' point of sale system.
