Win-2008
Win-2008, held earlier this month, offered JDS's clients the opportunity to meet fellow users, view recent product enhancements and offer valuable input as to future product development.  The theme of the Conference was “Surviving in Today’s Retail World”, and featured guest speakers on topics ranging from store design to E-Commerce.

"We are very excited about the success of ‘Win-2008’”, commented JDS President Dan Friedman. "The turnout exceeded even our highest expectations!  Most all of our clients attended the Conference, many for the first time, and they all openly shared with one another the ways that they used our products and services to help them survive in their competitive industry.”

The Win-2008 Conference continued JDS’s use of focus groups, where users were asked to provide input into future product strategy.  "We value the input of each and every one of our customers and do all that we can to make certain that our products meet their current needs, as well as anticipate their future requirements,” Friedman said.  “Our customers have always driven the developmental direction of our company and our products.  The Focus Groups simply extended that process.”

Feedback comments received indicated that virtually all felt that the Conference was extremely useful to them and that the information gained at the conference would have a positive impact on their use of their system going forward.  Sue Buck, Director of Turner Retail (Turner Broadcasting) said “I want to thank you for hosting the conference again this year.  For those of us who stage events of any kind, I know how much work and team coordination it takes to pull off such an event.  You have a great team down to the last member. I truly appreciate your "client focused" attitude.  It's becoming a lost art.  In this day and age of travel hassles, I will say this is a trip that I genuinely look forward to.  It's an enjoyable and productive time.  Thanks again for everything you do

San Diego Zoo goes "live".
JDS announced that the Zoological Society of San Diego, the largest zoological membership association in the United States, is now operating in a ‘live” mode, having completed the installation of the JDS suite of products. WinRetail®, the JDS back office management system, is now managing the merchandising retail cycle for the Society’s entities: the San Diego Zoo, and the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park. The system will increase the level of decision support information available to the Society’s retail operations.   The Society joins the extensive list of the Premier Museums/Attractions, independent retailers and Fortune 500 companies like Volcom, HBO, the Coleman Company and Turner Broadcasting that are operating their retail entities on the JDS Enterprise Management System. The Society selected JDS after an extensive search and review process.  "It was time to move from our old system, into one based on the Windows® platform that is rich in reporting and analysis,” said Don Leiker, the Society’s Merchandising Associate Director. “WinRetail® is strong in many areas, and data accessibility is our primary reason for selecting it.  We can access sales history detail during the purchase process, along with the tremendous flexibility and fullness of reporting and analysis capabilities. We expect improved control over our inventory levels, increased stock turns, and greater profitability." The entire implementation project was managed under the direction of the JDS Solutions Professional Services group.
