Careers - Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities:
As a key member of the JDS QA team, you will be responsible for testing the WinRetail® product line. This includes developing test strategies within a global team, executing end-to end customer driven test cases, developing and automating self-running test cases, and working closely with the development team to deliver a high quality product. You will get the opportunity to stay up to date with the latest JDS software and POS technologies, WinRetail® deployment and installation and you will get to interface with the JDS Solutions labs and learn how to best test and protect our products.
As a QA Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic, talented and highly motivated team working on the WinRetail® product line. We are enhancing the capabilities of our Inventory Control and Point of Sale solutions to provide additional company centric modules and features, validate software on new operating systems and computers, performance testing as the product and databases continually grow, as well as standard maintenance typical in a robust QA environment.
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ experience in software testing, software development or equivalent
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite of DB tools such as SQL 2008, Enterprise Studio, Query Analyzer, Visual Studio
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft SQL 2000/2005/2008 is absolutely required.
- Deep knowledge and understanding using SQL, Stored Procedures, Triggers, Queries, Profiler, Index Optimization
- Excellent SQL query debugging skills
- Ability to configure software and network elements in the lab
- Understanding of object oriented software development methodologies, design and implementation
- Strong background and experience in software testing methodology, test development, and test execution
- Use of bug tracking database to report bugs
- Ability to analyze test results
- Direct communication with both Development, Product definition and Customer Support teams
- Keen eye for graphical user interfaces, software flow and design aspects of software
- Preference for a fast-paced, high performance work environment
- Creative and "out of the box" problem solver
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have a "customer-focus" vision
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Sybase PowerBuilder highly recommended
- Knowledge of the Retail Industry highly recommended
- Knowledge of Retail Point of Sale Software such as Xstore, Tradewind, WinRetail®, Epicor, Retail Pro, KWI, Salesforce, Escalate, GERS, Island Pacific, JDA, etc. highly recommended.
- Familiarity with Microsoft based PC’s and network
- Strong background in Windows Operating Systems
- Knowledge of scripting languages a plus
- Automated testing a plus (Silktest, HP, etc.)
- Strong skills in PC technology (It will be helpful to be able to setup lab environments, backup and restore Databases, install and uninstall software)
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Communicates with development managers, configuration management and operations teams to resolve client issues
- Effective organization and analysis skills and ability to work on multiple incidents/projects
